Fashionable Friday: Little Girl Blue

I have a somewhat unhealthy obsession with ModCloth. Who doesn't? But even after years of browsing, I've only ordered a few things from them. The first is a sweater dress that was much larger than I expected - it turned me off the site for a while. Eventually, though, I started poking around again, and I got courageous. Really courageous. By which I mean, I ordered a "Stylish Surprise."

A few times a year, ModCloth takes its extra inventory and offers it up at a steep discount - all apparel is $15. But there's a catch: you don't know what you're getting. You just choose a size and an item is shipped to you at random. It's the Russian Roulette of online shopping.

I ordered a Surprise in November, and as soon as the payment went through I felt like an idiot. "Way to waste fifteen bucks," I chided myself. "Who knows what you'll get?"

I got this:

Are you floored? Because I was. The print is just adorable, and it fits perfectly.

So when ModCloth announced another Stylish Surprise two weeks ago, I needed to see if lightning could strike twice. When the box came, I was pretty surprised.

That thing's huge! The dress came in a little, soft envelope-y thing. What's in there?

The anticipation is killing me!

A coat!

A whole coat!

I only paid fifteen bucks for it! Are you jealous yet? I'm jealous of myself, if that makes any sense. I took it for its first outing just minutes after unpacking it. We went to a fundraiser at my old (and Lil Sis's current) high school.

The back is so cute.

Perfect fit.

Hello, sailors!

coat: ModCloth  / sweater: Wal-Mart  / jeans: Thrifted  / boots: From a show

boyfriend: From Benton, IL

My ModCloth obsession grows stronger by the day. Don't be shocked if I'm sporting something else from their shop soon.

Very Excellent Boyfriend and I are taking a mini vacation this weekend. We're driving up to Nashville tonight to meet his mom and switch cars with her (long story). We'll spend our Saturday exploring the city. I've never really spent any time up there - just passed through while driving to St. Louis - so I'm really excited. I'll tell you if I meet any country stars (or Ben Folds - he lives there, you know). See you next week!

  1. OMFG WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?! Do they send alerts on those sales or do you have to find them on the website???? I WANT IN.

Also, Jack White lives in Nashville. If I were there, he's the first one I'd seek out :P

  2. I get their emails. As soon as they start a sale, I hear about it. Stuff like this sells out REALLY quickly - within an hour of the message being sent.
